I am a nationally certified tutor for Roanoke College. I have tutored for three semesters at the college in the Center for Learning and Teaching and have been privately tutoring Spanish for three years. Relevant classes I have taken are as follows (all of which are taught entirely in Spanish): Span 202-- Grammar Span 303-- Composition Span 304-- Conversation Span 312-- Civilization and Culture of Latin America Span 320-- Spanish Literature Span 311-- Civilization and Culture of Spain Span 330-- Spanish Phonetics and Phonology Inq 380-- Post Classic Maya Span 480-- Advanced Spanish Literature Relevant awards: I received two monetary awards from Roanoke College at the end of my freshman year. The first award is given to a student who has shown excellence in Spanish and is also going on a May Term (intensive study) in a Spanish speaking country. The second is given to a student who has shown excellence in two linguistic fields of study (Spanish and Russian). Experience speaking Spanish outside the classroom: -Served as a translator in Nicaragua for a Roanoke College volunteer group -Spent one month in Mexico studying the Post-Classic Maya, also served as group translator when we went on outings -I assist in teaching English as a Second Language to Hispanic students at Arnold R. Burton, a speciality school for Roanoke County Public Schools. I also translate at that same school when information needs to be passed on to the students' parents. - Spent one month in Honduras teaching English to primary level students and adults -Spent three months in Russia
